Rao Travels fares are calculated from a base fare plus a per-kilometre rate for the vehicle you choose. The full fare is shown in the app before you confirm a booking, so you always see the price in advance. The rates below are current at the date shown above and may be revised.
1. Local rides (within Vellore)
- ✦Hatchback — ₹200 base fare + ₹13 per kilometre
- ✦Sedan — ₹200 base fare + ₹14 per kilometre
- ✦SUV — ₹200 base fare + ₹19 per kilometre
2. Outstation and intercity rides
- ✦Hatchback — ₹300 base fare + ₹14 per kilometre
- ✦Sedan — ₹300 base fare + ₹15 per kilometre
- ✦SUV — ₹300 base fare + ₹20 per kilometre
Outstation rates apply automatically once a journey passes the local distance limit. Driver allowance and night halt charges may apply to multi-day trips and are confirmed before booking.
3. Night travel
Journeys between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM carry a night surcharge of 1.2× the normal fare, reflecting the higher cost of operating at night.
4. Peak demand
When demand is high relative to the number of available vehicles, a peak multiplier may apply, up to a maximum of 2.5×. Any multiplier in effect is shown clearly in the fare breakdown before you confirm — you are never charged a multiplier you have not seen.
5. Charged at actuals
The following are passed on exactly as incurred, with no margin added:
- ✦Tolls — road and bridge tolls along your route.
- ✦Parking — parking fees at pickup or drop points.
- ✦State permits — interstate permit charges on outstation journeys.
- ✦Waiting time — waiting beyond the free period at an intermediate stop you requested.
6. Taxes
Where Goods and Services Tax applies to a booking, it is calculated at the prevailing statutory rate and shown as a separate line on your receipt.
7. Cancellation charges
A cancellation charge of ₹50 may apply depending on when you cancel. Cancelling within 3 minutes of a driver being assigned is free, as is cancelling a scheduled ride more than 60 minutes before pickup. There is no no-show fee. See the Cancellation & Refund Policy for full details.
8. Payment
Rides can be paid in cash to the driver or online through the app. Online payments are processed by our payment gateway partner; Rao Travels does not store your card, UPI or bank details. A receipt is issued in the app for every completed trip.
9. Tour packages
Multi-day tours, outstation packages and vehicle hire are quoted individually based on the itinerary, vehicle and duration. Contact us for a quotation — the quoted price is confirmed in writing before any advance is taken.
