This page applies to the Rao Travels customer app and the Rao Travels Driver app, published by Rao Travels, Vellore. You can delete your account yourself from the app, or ask us to do it for you. Either way the outcome is the same.
1. Delete from the app
- ✦Customer app — open Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Deactivate account, then confirm.
- ✦Driver app — open Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Deactivate account, then confirm. A driver with an unsettled ride or a pending withdrawal is asked to finish it first.
Your account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out on every device. If you do not sign in again within 30 days, your personal data is permanently deleted. Signing in during those 30 days cancels the deletion and restores the account exactly as it was.
2. Ask us to delete it
If you no longer have the app, or prefer not to use it, send a request from the phone number or e-mail registered on the account:
- ✦E-mail raotravelsvellore@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my Rao Travels account”, your registered mobile number, and whether it is a customer or a driver account.
- ✦Or WhatsApp / call +91 97916 87037 from the registered number.
We confirm the request with a one-time code sent to the registered number (so nobody else can delete your account), deactivate it the same working day, and complete the deletion after the same 30-day window. You receive a confirmation when it is done.
3. What is deleted
- ✦Your name, phone number, e-mail, profile photo, date of birth and gender.
- ✦Saved places, emergency contacts and notification tokens.
- ✦For drivers: KYC documents and photos (Aadhaar, licence, vehicle papers, selfie) and bank account details.
- ✦Chat messages and attachments from your rides.
4. What is kept, and for how long
Indian law requires a transport operator to keep records of the trips it carried out. After deletion these records no longer carry your name or contact details:
- ✦Trip and payment records (route, fare, invoice, payment reference) — kept for up to 8 years for tax and accounting, under an anonymised account reference.
- ✦Safety and fraud records (blocks, SOS alerts, disputes) — up to 2 years.
- ✦Backups — encrypted database backups age out within 180 days; deleted data is not restored from them.
